Thanks to all of you, Ganjifa Reincarnated is moving along nicely and we are well on our way to a successful campaign.
When Ganjifa was first published by Tab Creations in 2013, we translated and compiled rules for four historic games. Those games are Nakash, Ekrang, Komi, and Hamrang which can be downloaded on our website here:https://www.tabcreations.com/ganjifa/
So now we would like to introduce our first new game, developed by Tab Creations to be used with Mughal Ganjifa cards, called Udvasa. For those who may not be fluent in Sanskrit, Udvasa can have several meanings such as “desert” or “uninhabited” but can also imply “solitude”. If you haven’t guessed it yet, Udvasa is a solitaire game.
Here is a basic run down of the game:
- The play area is divided into 8 build stacks, one for each suit. Four of these stacks will build down starting with the Raja and completing at the number 1 and the remaining four stacks will build up from the number 1 to complete with the Raja.
- At the beginning of the game you start with 4 Rajas and four number 1 cards face-up.
- You also have 8 working stacks. Cards can be moved between working stacks by placing one card on top of another that is either 1 more or less than the current card no matter what the suit is. Only one card at a time can be moved in this way.
- You start by dealing 8 cards from the deck, one to each working stack. You then move any cards around on the working stacks as appropriate or to the build stacks. When you have no more moves, you then deal out 8 more cards, one to the top of each working stack.
- Empty working stacks (after the first 8 cards have been dealt) can be filled by any card at the top of another working stack.
- The game is won when all cards in the deck have been moved to the build stacks in the proper order.
A more complete set of rules will be included with the game, in fact, all of the rules will be reformatted a bit on a newly designed rules booklet that will be included with your cards.
Thanks again to all of our most excellent backers! We couldn’t have come this far without you and we are extremely grateful.
