Ganjifa Next Steps (Sorry for the delay)
over 2 years ago – Tue, Nov 16, 2021 at 07:50:05 PM

Good Morning!

I hope you all had a good weekend and Monday.  I want to start by apologizing for not getting this update out sooner, last week was a crazy week for Tab Creations.  It seems we had a few tiny (or perhaps very large) issues with cyber criminals and that completely sidetracked me for a bit.  But it is all over now and resolved and we are back to working on games!

So, I wanted to give you all an idea of what is coming and what to expect.

  • We are currently finalizing the pledge manager, Backerkit, and are awaiting the transfer of funds from Kickstarter.
  • Once the funds have been transferred and Backerkit is ready, we will start with a small survey test and once we know there are no issues will send surveys out to all backers.  Please expect the surveys in 2-3 weeks.
  • In the meantime we are working on the layout for the rule books as well as the game box.

We will send out another update once the surveys are sent out so you can let us know if you did not receive one.  At that point we will start sending out updates once per month until the rewards are successfully delivered.  You can also check out progress in between Kickstarter updates on our website's blog, https://www.tabcreations.com/blog/.

Finally, we are working with our manufacturer to get the best production and shipping times but please keep in mind that shipping can be a bit slow and or chaotic right now but we will keep you up to date on our progress.  We have never been late on delivery before and we don't intend to start now.

Thanks again for backing Ganjifa, we look forward to hearing from all of you in a couple weeks when the backer surveys go out.

Now the work really begins for us here at Tab Creations as we get prepared to print and ship your Ganjifa cards.  Stay tuned for another update in the next few days that will outline what to expect as we move forward, but I just wanted to say thanks one more time.  It get old the millionth time but it really is true that we couldn't exist or make games without you.

Final 48 hours and Shakti Preview
over 2 years ago – Mon, Nov 01, 2021 at 11:38:11 AM

Well loyal backers, we arrived at the final 48 hours of the campaign and again I would like to thank all of you for your support of this project.

We will keep this brief but there are a few updates:

  • Design and layout for the new box art using the painting we highlighted in update 3 has begun.
  • New layout and design for the rules booklet has also begun.
  • Finally, we expect to order a final printing proof of them cards themselves very soon after the campaign is completed.

Don’t forget, the painting we are using for the box art can be yours, all you need to do is back us at the Ganjifa Patron level.

Also,  we will be using Backerkit as a pledge manager and you should all get surveys within a couple weeks of the end of the campaign.

Now, let’s preview another new game:

Shakti

  • Shakti is a 4 player game. Each player is dealt 8 cards and each payer is dealt a single card face up that is the beginning of their own discard pile.
  • The goal of the game is to use all 8 cards in your hand in a “run” of cards from the same suit (ie. 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 of silver coins) or all 8 cards of the same value such as a Raja card from each suit. The first player to complete their hand wins.

Players on their turn will always draw four cards and discard four cards. Cards can be drawn in the following ways:

  • All 4 cards can be drawn from the deck (once the deck runs out, this is no longer an option).
  • The player can choose to draw one card from each discard pile, either all from the tops or all from the bottoms of the pile. If drawing from the bottoms of a discard pile, the player may not first look at the cards.
  • The player can choose to draw all four cards from either the top or bottom of a single discard pile, assuming there are enough cards in the pile to do so.
  • After drawing four cards and deciding which to keep, the player then discards four cards to the same location or locations they were drawn from.

As with the other previews, a more complete and detailed set of rules will be included in your deck box.

Thanks again for your support, let’s finish this strong!

Goal Met and Game Preview #2
over 2 years ago – Thu, Oct 28, 2021 at 04:09:11 PM

Success!!!

Congratulations Ganjifa backers, the campaign has just met its funding goal and it is all thanks to you!

We at Tab Creations can never say enough how much we appreciate our backers and today is no different. We are so grateful to all of you and are excited to know that there is still a desire and a demand for Ganjifa.

As we continue with the campaign, we would like to ask you to help spread the word on social media by sharing this campaign.

Game Preview – Sama

Following is a preview for another new game, this time a banking game called Sama, we hope you like it.

  • All players are dealt two face down cards and one face up card.
  • The player examines the two face down cards and totals them, for example a “7” card and a “10” card would be “17”.
  • The player then doubles the value of the face up card. For example a “3” card would be worth “6”.
  • The player then has the opportunity to exchange either the face up card or both face down cards. This action can be done only once during the round.
  • The player then adds the total for the face down cards and the face up card for a final total. In the previous examples it would be “17” for the face down cards and “6” for the face up card for a final total of “23”.
  • Each player then takes turns revealing their final score and the player with the highest score wins that round.
  • Face cards are worth 11 for the Vizier and 12 for the Raja whether face up or down.
  • Sama can be played as a betting game or by comparing the number of rounds each player has won.

This game along with all of the others will be included in our newly revised and formatted rulebook along with your cards.

Thanks again for your support, we will update you again soon!

Box Art Reveal and Dark Yogi Info
over 2 years ago – Sat, Oct 23, 2021 at 07:10:27 PM

Box Art

I hope your weekend has started off great!  We have some excellent news, the digital scan of the painting Tab Creations commissioned has arrived!

For the 2013 release of Ganjifa, we ended up using stock art for the game box which you can see in the video and in some pictures that include a box.  It looked ok, but for this reincarnated version, we knew we could do better.  To that end, we had an 18x24 (inch) painting in the Mughal style commissioned for the box art and without further ado, here it is:

We hope you like the new box art because if you do, you can own the original painting.

Available for one backer only is the Ganjifa Patron reward.  Along with your deck of cards you will get the original painting and a choice of frame.  Feel free to send us any questions you may have about it.

Against the Dark Yogi

We also wanted to share with you a bit more about our add-on, Against the Dark Yogi, the game we were developing when we came across Ganjifa for the first time.

Against the Dark Yogi is a complete roleplaying game set in a fantasy world inspired by Indian myths and legends. Its features include:

  • A detailed take on stories and tropes from Indian myths without the need to be familiar with the mythology.
  • Run campaigns spanning multiple generations, with in-depth rules for creating and playing new incarnations of past heroes.
  • A system where player characters accrue both good and bad karma, bringing about consequences for their actions.
  • Power levels and game play designed to scale up, so players can be the big damn mythic heroes they always wanted to be!
  • A combat system designed to handle everything from epic duels to pitched battles, where the heroes lead or defeat armies.
  • Abilities and archetypes drawn directly from Indian myth!

You can purchase a pdf of copy as an add-on during this campaign for only $15 and as a bonus, you will a receive a coupon for a print copy through DriveThruRPG at just the cost of printing.  That is almost a $20 savings!

Thanks again for all of your support, we are extremely grateful for backers like you.
